Our favourite rooms
The eight Family Beach Villas are designed for parents with little ones in tow and come stocked with helpful essentials, including a pushchair, cot and bottle-sterilising unit. These vast 358sq m villas sleep two adults and two children in a separate kids’ room, which is just off the master bedroom and kitted out with bunk beds. Each villa has its own private garden and plunge pool; the beach is just steps away. If you want to be close to the kids club and pool, book number 30. The 10 Double Storey Villas with Pool suit families with older children or teens. Separate living areas allow parents and a potentially moody teen to brood in their own space; there’s a master bedroom with a king-size bed on the ground floor; upstairs, there’s a small room with two beds and an adjoining bathroom with a shower. A spiral staircase leading from the upstairs balcony into the garden is perfect for confident walkers and lie-in-seeking parents. Avoid the Water Villas if you’ve got young children: the overwater jetty is designed with adults in mind.
Each villa boasts a private plunge pool; the main pool is surrounded by double day beds and single loungers, umbrellas for shade-seekers, and swaying palm trees. Parents need to supervise their water babies at the main pool; at the pool attached to the kids club, children are watched over by vigilant hotel staff.
Floating over the too-blue water, the spa pampers frazzled parents with fragrant Ila and Valmont products; there are also spa treatments for 3-12s, who are treated to cookies and rose-and-vanilla iced tea when they visit. Small Smiths can pick from a half-hour body massage with rose otto body balm (US$65); a half-hour foot bath with lavender oil and petals, followed by a cocoa cream massage (US$40); a scalp massage with olive oil (US$20) or some henna tattoos (US$10 each).
If little Smiths are looking a little wild-haired, take them for a trim in the spa.
You can sort spa treatments, restaurant reservations and childcare requests upon check-in (but don't leave it any later, especially for dinners at 10-table Meeru).
