A long-standing devotee of the impromptu weekend escape, Smith’s managing editor Anthony had to have a baby-shaped rethink a little while ago, and is now incapable of doing anything that isn’t planned at least eight weeks in advance. Still, with the help of his son Ezra, he’s now an expert at coaxing errant toddlers through airport security and can debate the merits of portable highchairs in tedious depth. Anthony has spent the last few years dragging Ezra across Europe, in the hope of finding a hotel room in which his son is unable to break anything. In fact, family travel has been so much fun for him that Anthony decided to up the challenge by having another child.
